Change is the natural flow of life
the hidden gift in chaos
Change is part of the natural flow of life …
yet, we often spend exhaustive amounts of time and energy trying to control or even stop change from occurring. Why?
As Deepak said, great change is often preceded by chaos.
Sounds a bit unnerving, doesn’t it?
It does until you view it differently, change your perspective, reframe it if you will.
great change is often preceded by chaos
But how do you change your perspective? And where do you start?
Start with one word. In this case, the word chaos.
I get it, the thought of your world going into chaos in order for great changes to occur is not remotely comforting.
So, let’s look at it differently.
Let’s start by looking up the definition of chaos.
In mathematics, chaos “signifies that the equations expressing nonlinear systems are extremely sensitive to initial inputs.”
and another definition …
another definition I found for chaos was “the space between two realities”.
Instead of chaos being defined as disorder and confusion, it could actually just be the space between the old and the new.
Reframe dis-order to signify the place between two orders, between two realities. The magical space where change occurs.
the space between
Leaving your old job for a new one, leaving high school to go to college, leaving the single life to enter married life … these are all places between two realities.
One reality is known, familiar, predictable and one is still unknown, unfamiliar and unpredictable.
The only way to grow and move forward in your life is by, and through, change. View the changes as a new adventure. Find your favorite music, and set your course.
Chaos is full of possibility
Rather than considering chaos and change as unwieldy, messy, uncontrollable and scary, view it instead as new and exciting…a place for great changes to occur.
change is important — and inevitable. By stopping the flow of change around us, we are stopping the flow within us.
Stopping the flow (Chi/Qi) of energy and trying to control life and events, blocks serendipity in our lives.
By attempting to control things, we inadvertently create quite the opposite and end up delaying (or even halting) our growth and the natural flow of life and events.
Life is ever-changing. It is often messy…and that’s where the magic is! It’s IN the mess! It’s IN the chaos.
Trying to control outcomes leaves no room for magic to occur.
The magic of life is in the mess.
